Melanie Hay
Owner & principal designer
Growing up the daughter of an Argentina-born home interiors shop owner with an immaculate flair for design, Melanie Hay was surrounded by rich textiles, art, antiques, and the warm, layered approach of Mediterranean style. Those surroundings and innate interests inevitably shaped her creative career path.
Having studied art history and philosophy at university, Melanie made her return to academia to pursue a specialization in interior design. That formal knowledge, coupled with real-world professional experiences, further encouraged her to form Melanie Hay Design – creating the space to express herself through artful interiors.
Since opening the interior design firm in 2015, she’s been featured in numerous publications, designed for and appeared on acclaimed home renovation shows such as Property Brothers and Property Brothers: Forever Home, and put her tasteful touch on spaces across Toronto, Oakville, Canada’s cottage country, and beyond.
Melanie combines her deep understanding of aesthetics and design sensibilities with her approachable nature to give each MHD client an experience that is meaningful, thoughtful, and personal.
